What this route is

A standard visit is up to six months. A 2, 5, or 10 year visit visa still limits each stay to six months. There is no right to work and no route to settlement from this visa.

UKVI decides on the papers submitted. A missing return-to-work date, an unexplained deposit, or an invitation with no proof of the sponsor’s status is enough to refuse. The refusal stays on the record. The guide figure for a standard visit fee was £135, with no health surcharge. Confirm it on GOV.UK.

• Ties at home: work, study, family, or property.

Evidence that usually matters

• Employment letter with a return date and approved leave.
• Bank statements without unexplained cash deposits.
• Invitation, if there is a UK host, plus the host’s status and accommodation.
