Student visa

Study and visit

We prepare Student visa applications and check the CAS, the 28-day money rule, and the timing. Extensions are explained in the guide and can be prepared under this service.

This page is general information about UK immigration routes. It is not advice on your case. Rules and fees change. Confirm the current position before you pay a Home Office fee.

Who this is for

  • You have an offer from a licensed student sponsor.
  • You are applying from abroad, or you already hold a Student or Tier 4 visa and need a new CAS.

What this route is

The Student route replaced Tier 4 (General) on 5 October 2020. You cannot apply without a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies from a licensed sponsor.

Money must usually have been held for 28 consecutive days. A CAS that names the wrong course, the wrong fee, or the wrong date can decide the case before anyone reads the rest of the file. After the course, the Graduate route is only open if your Student visa, or section 3C leave, is still valid.

Requirements we check

  • A valid CAS from a licensed sponsor.
  • Funds for the course fees and living costs, held for the right 28 days, unless an exemption applies.
  • English at the level the sponsor used.
  • TB screening if your residence history requires it.

Evidence that usually matters

  • The CAS statement checked line by line.
  • Bank statements covering 28 days, ending within the window the rules allow.
  • Consent from a parent where the student is under 18.

How we work

  1. Read the position. We read the CAS against the offer and the fees already paid.
  2. List the gaps. We count the 28 days on the bank statements.
  3. Prepare the application. We prepare the application.
  4. Check before filing. We tell you if an extension is really an academic-progression problem. That sits in the student extension guide.

Where applications go wrong

  • Statements that dip below the required balance for one day.
  • A CAS issued for a course you have not been offered.
  • Applying for an extension the sponsor will not support.

Our fees

ServiceAHM professional feeUKVI application fee
Student Visa£600£558
Child Student Visa£600£558
Short-Term English Language Student£700£228

The AHM professional fee is confirmed in writing before we start and can be higher if the case is complex. We strongly advise a 30-minute initial consultation (£70) first. The UKVI application fee is paid to the UK Government and is not included in our fee. The Immigration Health Surcharge, priority services, biometrics, translations, and English or TB tests are also separate. Confirm the current government fee on GOV.UK before you apply. See the full fee schedule.
