Administrative review

Refusals and urgent

Administrative review asks the Home Office to correct its own caseworker error. It is not an appeal and it is not a second chance to add documents.

This page is general information about UK immigration routes. It is not advice on your case. Rules and fees change. Confirm the current position before you pay a Home Office fee.

Who this is for

  • Your refusal letter gives a right to administrative review.
  • You believe the caseworker misapplied the rules to evidence that was already in the file.

What this route is

The reviewer looks at whether the original decision applied the rules correctly. You cannot use it to repair a bundle that never included the key document. It is commonly available on points-based routes such as Skilled Worker, Student, and Graduate, and only where the letter says so.

Deadlines often given are 14 days inside the UK, 28 days outside the UK, and 7 days if the person is detained. Use the deadline on your letter. The Home Office fee cited in public guidance has been £80. Confirm it before you pay.

Requirements we check

  • The error is in the decision, not in the missing evidence.
  • Examples include the wrong salary figure, a rule that does not apply to the route, or a document that was uploaded and ignored.
  • The letter expressly grants administrative review.

Evidence that usually matters

  • The refusal letter.
  • The uploaded document that was overlooked, still in the form it was submitted.
  • A short note of the error. Not a new life story.

How we work

  1. Read the position. We decide if this is a caseworker error or a weak application.
  2. List the gaps. If it is a weak application, we say so and talk about reapplying.
  3. Prepare the application. If it is an error, we draft the review against the rule that was misapplied.
  4. Check before filing. We file inside the deadline on the letter.

Where applications go wrong

  • Sending new bank statements and calling that a review.
  • Missing a 14-day deadline by treating it as 14 working days.
  • Using administrative review on a family refusal that does not offer it.

Our fees

ServiceAHM professional feeUKVI application fee
Administrative Review£600£80

The AHM professional fee is confirmed in writing before we start and can be higher if the case is complex. We strongly advise a 30-minute initial consultation (£70) first. The UKVI application fee is paid to the UK Government and is not included in our fee. The Immigration Health Surcharge, priority services, biometrics, translations, and English or TB tests are also separate. Confirm the current government fee on GOV.UK before you apply. See the full fee schedule.
