Spouse visa extension (FLR(M))

Family

An extension is a fresh look at the last two and a half years. We prepare FLR(M) applications before the current visa expires.

This page is general information about UK immigration routes. It is not advice on your case. Rules and fees change. Confirm the current position before you pay a Home Office fee.

Who this is for

  • You are in the UK on a spouse, partner, or fiancé route and the first grant is coming to an end.
  • You need a further 30 months on the five-year path to settlement.

What this route is

FLR(M) is not a rubber stamp of the last decision. The caseworker assesses the relationship, money, and accommodation again.

Apply before the visa expires. An in-time application is what keeps section 3C leave in place. If the visa has already expired, get advice immediately.

At extension stage, income the applicant earns lawfully in the UK can often be counted with the sponsor’s income, if the specified evidence is there.

Requirements we check

  • The relationship has continued throughout the grant.
  • The financial requirement is still met.
  • You apply while the current permission is valid.

Evidence that usually matters

  • Cohabitation documents spread across the whole 30 months, not only the last few weeks.
  • Updated payslips and statements.
  • A tenancy or mortgage document in current names.

How we work

  1. Read the position. We calculate the expiry date and the section 3C risk.
  2. List the gaps. We map cohabitation evidence month by month and flag gaps.
  3. Prepare the application. We prepare the FLR(M) form and bundle.
  4. Check before filing. We submit while the current visa is still valid.

Where applications go wrong

  • Applying after expiry.
  • Bank statements that do not match payslips.
  • Address evidence that only covers the final two months.

Our fees

Family / Spouse Visa – inside UK£1,250£1,407

The AHM professional fee is confirmed in writing before we start and can be higher if the case is complex. We strongly advise a 30-minute initial consultation (£70) first. The UKVI application fee is paid to the UK Government and is not included in our fee. The Immigration Health Surcharge, priority services, biometrics, translations, and English or TB tests are also separate. Confirm the current government fee on GOV.UK before you apply. See the full fee schedule.
